AustraliaUppercut Deluxe is an Australian brand born from a passion for true barbering craft. Founders Luke Newman and Steve Purcell, childhood friends, ran their own shop in Australia for years, back when barbershops weren't nearly as popular as they are now. Their everyday life blended precision in the chair, hair, beards, skate parks, and waves.
Unhappy with average products that didn't match the energy of their shop, they decided to make something of their own. That's how Deluxe Pomade came to be, their first product, made from day one to perform in a real barbershop setting.
Every new product has been developed on the same principle: practical, reliable, and free of anything unnecessary, just the way Luke and Steve work every day.
The brand's name comes from Luke's grandfather, Willy O’Shea, an old boxer known by the nickname “Uppercut,” and his life motto, “a hard start leads to a good finish.” That spirit of perseverance, combined with the energy of city streets and the freedom of surf and skate life, is woven into every Uppercut Deluxe product.
